In order to achieve a better management and protection of the coastal natural resources as well as the promotion of the country as a tourist destination, by decision of the Council of Ministers no. 31 dated 22.01.2014, the National Coastal Agency was established. The agency which has responsibility and competence in ensuring the sustainable development of tourism, through the inspection and control of tourist activities, hotels, accommodation structures, etc.
Resorts, hotels, hostels, bed&breakfasts and agritourisms are subject to the same national and European legislation regarding food safety, which stipulates for each of them and for the respective managers compliance with the laws on hygiene and control, HACCP and hygiene monitoring and the corresponding plan of self-control.
The HACCP certificate and documentation for these structures is an instrument provided by European and Albanian legislation (Food Law No. 9863 of 2008), which an administrator or manager of a hotel must have in order to prepare their own self-control practices; an instrument that the legislation has made available to them and to the activities they manage to guide and accompany them in protecting against the risks that food and beverages would face.
In the food law (law no. 9863 of 2008) it imposes on hotels, tourist villages, bed&breakfast, agrotourism, etc. store food at the right temperature and adequately protected from atmospheric agents; however, respecting the basic rules of food storage.
