Product Certification
Product certification is an activity where a service, exam, product, system, or laboratory personnel evaluates whether an institution or independent organization complies with a certain regulation or
technical standard. When we talk about product certification, it is understood that the product itself is certified, not the company that produces it.
In some cases, products must meet the requirements of specific standards to receive a certificate. This may include laboratory testing, performance evaluation, or observation of manufacturing processes. Certification of a product ensures that it complies with certain standards and other normative documents.
For example, in the European Union, the CE mark is a certificate that must be affixed to certain types of products by the manufacturer himself. This mark indicates that the product complies with the essential requirements for marketing and use in the EU, set out in the new approach directives. The CE mark is mandatory for products belonging to the European Economic Area (EEA).
In order to have a certified product, companies must evaluate and ensure that the product meets the criteria defined by applicable standards and regulations. This helps ensure the quality and safety of the product for consumers and the market in general.
